    Default Extended Warranty

My veccy is due for its 1st MOT in July and is thus out of warranty, is it worth getting an extended warranty , if so, who recommends what ?

Have been quoted £245 from Warrant Direct ? I've not read the T&C's but thought it was pretty good,

I have just taken out a warranty with them covering everything, Turbo, clutch, climate control, ABS etc, etc. Cost £270 for 13 months (1 month free) You can use your designated repairer up to £40/hr but you will have to pay up front and claim it back (takes less than 1 week i was assured) or use their repairers and not pay a penny except the £25 excess. There is a limit of £5000 p/year on claims though.

I had a third party warranty with WarrantyWise for when the original warranty expired at 60K miles on my Mondeo
It was a complete waste of time
A rear brake caliper seized, not covered under warranty
This caused the handrake to seize, not covered under warranty
The replacement caused another brake caliper to seize, not covered under warranty
The EGR pipe on the turbo, not covered under warranty
Exhaust valve failure, not covered under warranty
At that point Ford took over as they wanted the engine for further investigation

The only claim approved was for the cylinder head work for the exhaust valve failure, at 8 hours labour plus £550 parts

Ironically, the policy had tyre insurance, and I made five claims for puctures all of which were approved!
