    Default z30DT Fuel Bleed

    Hello,

Anyone have to buy a manual bleeder after replacing a high pressure fuel pump. Straight forward job, but can't get fuel at the 6th injector line. I've got it cracked. I flipped the key forward 15 seconds 3x, then cranked for 20 seconds. I don't want to burn up the new pump.

Maybe a hand pump on the fuel filter? If so, does anyone have a kit they'd recommend?

    Thanks,

hello, go and introduce yourself in the appropriate topic and don't forget to put a picture up of your car or you'll just be spammed by most to do so.. as for your question:
all the CDTI's are self bleeding... so no-one with a CDTI has done that. People with a DTI tend to plumb in a manual one-way bleeder on the return line from the fuel-filter to the tank.
so make sure you have clamped off both the fuel lines coming from the fuel-filter (that go to the engine) and fill it up to the brim with diesel or a diesel injector cleaner than just use a jump starter or jump leads of a running car to try and start it. alternatively you can tow-start it but only if the car has a manual gearbox.

Thanks will do. I filled the filter housing to the brim with a turkey baster. I cracked the injector lines this morning. I now have fuel coming through each one, but not enough pressure to cause a squirt. Just bleeding out slowly. Guess I'll need the new diag tool (Topdon) to verify line pressure.

I've read cranking could damage the pump on 1.9 and 2.2. Is that a concern on the 3.0?

the fuelpumps in question are those found on the 2.0/2.2 dti's not the cdti's as they are self-bleeding as stated before
