vectra c 3.2 v6 gts automatic gearbox problem
hi all,
i have 2003 vectra c 3.2 v6 153xxx km. Sometimes when I start the car and put the reverse gear there is a small knock. When I get it to D, the car acts like the pads are gone and won't move. when I stop the car's engine and start it up again it gets better. It rarely does that, not always.
fault codes:
p0725
p1700
These codes are related to the transmission sensors, but the mechanics here say they are related to the transmission tribunes.
Has anyone had this kind of problem before? I am waiting for your support for the solution...

Not an expert on auto's but it might be worth a gearbox oil & filter change to see if that cures it otherwise some other members might be able to help.

first thing to do with an automatic gearbox... change oil and filter, scan car, erase codes and see if it comes back after a drive... if it does comeback scan the car for the codes as it might be a simple thing like the gearbox ecu acting up or worst case, the box needs replacing (and that might just make you scrap it)

I looked up the codes and this is what ome back:
p0725 speed sensor malfunctioning... it's in the gearbox and usually caused by dirty oil and metal shivers blocking the magnetic sensor from doing a proper reading so replace both oil and filter for the gearbox (also pull out the sensor and clean it)
p1700 ignition/shift solenoid e performance or stuck off/engine fuel rail pressure sensor malfunction, but since the gearbox is acting up i'd suspect it's part of the first code which will get solved once the gearbox oil and filter are replaced. But if you have no idea of when the sparkplugs are replaced... i'd replace them all with new ones and make sure they are gapped properly. Now if the car revs properly and drives fine and reacts to the go pedal properly I wouldn't worry about the fuel pressure, however if it hesitates on pressing the go pedal... i'd have the fuel pressure tested, before trying to solve that.

Scroll down for your codes.
Also check level/colour of fluid should be red if it's brown then clutches are slipping/or level is low if it's pinkish then a common fault is for the rad to leak coolant into fluid.

Thank you all for your recommendation. We had the transmission oil checked about a year ago. The oil color and oil level were fine, but the oil plug broke while checking. I think some of the plastic plug went into the gearbox... this little piece might be blocking the sensor's reading. For this reason, I will first change the transmission oil and filters. I'll also clean the transmission sensors. there is very little water loss in my vehicle. I never thought it would be due to transmission cooling. I will definitely check it out. I will post the progress here again..
