Insignia battery soon
The Insignia 2015 2.0 diesel nav eco with stop start is starting to struggle to start when its cold. Now looking into the battery options, its still on standard GM one FIAMM AGM brand.
the sticker says 12V 80Ah 800A EN 760A SAE/GS
checking various suppliers my local spares place is quoting £200 but other places Tayna etc are offering 019 or 115 numbered ones between £158 and £264 but showing as no 115 but some are 95Ah ones.
has anyone got suggestion for a good replacement , some have 3yr, some 5 year guarantee, the oem one lasted 8yrs.
Varta, Exide , Lion, Bosch, Halfords, ? Yuasa are my normal go to for motorcycle batteries.

IMHO a battery can have more AH than the original it won't cause any harm. Just make sure you get the same type as the type dictates the size of both battery and shape of the poles and in your case it has to have stop start technology too because a normal one that will fit will soon die because of the frequent use of the battery (aka it won't charge fast enough)

None of the non-OE baterries will last so long regardless the brand/manufacturer...unfortunately.

this is the one I bought, now the stop / start works again, although the car has been starting and running ok uo to now, when I slow down at lights, the engine stops like it used to.. had not been doing this for a few months.

Yep, couldn't agree more with both of you. All my cars are fitted with the biggest battery that will fit in the oem tray. Also I use Halfords and buy the Yuasa battery. I had a situation where a car had been standing for a while and for some reason the battery (one year old at the time) wasn't charging. Halfords replaced it without question.

next time buy a higher AH and CCA one... the AGM type is an upgrade but keeping to the same AH it'll last as long as the old battery or even shorter, because it hasn't got the extra reserves... granted the design should withstand the power demands as good as the oem EFB type, it's not designed for the frequent stop-start power demands your car actually has. So remember next time to get a higher output one or just go for a EFB type with more AH and CCA
