    Default Motorway driving

I've been driving for almost 2 years, While im confident on normal roads, i lose my bottle everytime i want to on the motorway. I'm ok for short journeys but I dread going on longer ones.

I made plans to go into the middle of Glasgow next week, i really want to but i'm really nervous. Can anybody give me any tips or anything??!!

lol...You just have to get on with it, the week after I passed my test I got a job with a company in Stone, Staffordshire. They handed me the keys of the Volvo 850 T5 and told me the address in Scotland to drive to.

I thought the same thing 'just get on with it' but it's just nerves. I used to be really worried when i had my Corsa because it was like a tin can, but now i've got my Vec. I'm just going to do it and hope for the best!!

Just sit back and relax, put something soothing in the cd player.

Plan your journey - if you know your journey you don't have to spend time worrying at every junction whether your in the right lane or not.

Break the journey into smaller chunks, once you've completed your first leg, stop take a quick 5 mins to look at your A-Z so that your next leg is fresh in your mind.

Take someone with you who is quite calm, but not horizontal and who knows the roads.

try and enjoy it, take your time, speed limits are upper limits not lower ones so don't worry if anyone is sitting up yer erse if you are in the inside lane, sit at 60 mph on the motorway it gives you a lot more time to react to things

leave at least a three second gap between you and the car in front, it will give you more time to think about braking and allow other to pull in front of you without getting so close as to annoy you.

You ever thought about taking motorway lessons? they really can help too.

I haven't a clue of the route i'll be taking - was going to use my TomTom!

I suppose it's really exiting at one junction then joining another that's my main worry.
