as we stated before try t reprogram the BCM if you are sure you did the wiring well... it might be all that is needed. And don't forget to give all the modules the hard reset after you've programmed it if you use op-com. Tech2 actually resets the module after you reprogram it.

    Further thoughts.

If it is "seeing" the SW CAN on the CIM, then your home-made interface should be working.

If it is returning DTCs saying "No communication with UEC on SW CAN", it is probably more like a wiring issue.
You have already found a lot of cut wires.
So this could be an issue.
The CIM cannot see the other modules through a cut wire.

As for programming, you need software that is able to program the modules properly.
I found lots of issues attempting to program the daytime running lights on our 2005 Vectra with software 100219a.
The BCM is not properly supported until later versions.

It ended up locking the headlamps on and I had to disconnect the battery to reset everything back again.

This is why I am saying "use later software".

I agree with you on that I found that the earlier versions don't like the half-canbus system at all yet work absolutely fine with full canbus systems...but I did also find that the later versions also had hick-ups with programming but when you swapped and used tech2 that did the reset of the programmed module all is fine, and as it should be. That said I had to use tech2 to program the rear electric windows, no amount of hard reset after programming did the trick regardless of the version of opcom used.

Well I managed to get the SW CAN communication to function today on my interface. The reason was a blown IC. Replaced it and the modules all connected up nicely.

The trouble now is that I have actual error codes from the UEC regarding open circuits on the headlight bulbs. Among other things of cource, but this is the one that troubles me the most as I fixed all the wiring issues especially the ones related to the headlights. All bulb termination points reach the UEC with less than 0.3 Ohms.

The wiper also finds me a bit stumped because there are no apparent error codes related to that, plus the rain-sensing is indeed coded in but has never worked (factory extra). The washer also works but only via the output tests and not via the stalk.

I wonder if the rain sensor and auto wipe function has been retro-fitted.
If so, this is wired into the rear electrical centre (REC) in the boot / load area.

Connectors Rx7 and Rx8 spring to mind.

    A quick search found this...

    Hi Rob,

The windscreen does have the right cutout, profile and mount for the rain sensor which begs the question if it was indeed retrofitted in such a detailed fashion. Could be though.

The rain sensor appears as programmed in the modules. The downward stalk function on the wiper refuses to function along with the lighting, the offside indicator and the reverse. The measuring blocks do pick up the button presses and switches correctly.

I'll take the stalk out and have another look. I am sure I cleaned it meticulusly when I had the CIM out. The airbag squib registers 7ohm resistance which justifies the error code.

Will look into the airbag, etc. when I can get a couple of hours.

As thought, the rain sensor is powered from the boot fusebox.

Fuse is Fr 27 in the boot - 7.5 amps.
    Wires are
Xr 7. Pin 16 to rain sensor pin 3 - control signal.

Xr 7. Pin 15 to ground - for rain sensor pin 1

Rain sensor pin 2 to fuse Fr27 (ignition live).

For the wiper - you have 2 relays...
    -----------------------------------------------------

    K6 - x125 wiper on / off relay.

    Pin 30 to relay k5 pin 30.

Pin 85 internal switch ground in UEC

PIN 86 Battery live voltage to relay K6 pin 87 and to relay K5 pin 86.

Pin 87 Battery live voltage to relay K6 pin 86 and relay K5 pin 86.

    Pin 87a relay ground.
    ---------------------------------------------

    Relay K5 x125 - high/low relay

    Pin 30 to relay K6 pin 30

Pin 85 internal to UEC controlled switched ground.

    Pin 86 to relay K6 pins 86 and 87.

    Pin 87 to fuse Fe 12 - 30 amp

    Pin 87a to Fuse Fe11 - 30 amp.

OK Checked it all again today as per the above info.

Got nothing. Attempted to reprogramme the UEC and then did a hard reset. Still nothing.

I tried to change the variant coding in some of the settings and then back to normal but did nothing.

In the REC I get some "invalid" settings that I cannot possibly change to present, e.g., the rain sensor.

I will attempt resetting and reprogramming the REC and the BCM tomorrow and maybe this will sort it out (hopefully).

EDIT: If I cannot get the lights to work I will knock up a relay board but it is going to be a messy one, as the main beam and the dipped beam work on different headlights. Which then begs the question, how on earth will I wire the back up lights and the wiper since the *ECs are in between everything.

    Regards,
    Evros

When I retro fitted front fogs the "old skool" way, I found that there was plenty of space for relays inside the battery box.

Easy enough to use one dip beam to operate the bulb on the other side.
And then the opposite way round for the high beams.

Back-up lights may need a bit of direct wiring to bypass the CAN networks.
I assume you do not have check control, but ifyou do, just disable it with some programming.
