Hi ppl, have mk1insignia 1.8 with the m32 gearbox. Is it possible to install the f40 gearbox? If yes any extras needed? Many thanks

Since you didn't get an answer you might want to read this topic... but it involves driveshafts, f40 gearbox, DMF flywheel, clutch kit, the gearbox mounts, gear linkages etc all from and f40 equipped Vectra.
And from reading that topic it seems to change how the car drives in the lower gears (better gearing) and other than needing loads of parts it seems to be a straight swap. that said most of it you need to remove anyway to change the clutch, so mwah if it is a dodgy gearbox just do the swap.
"Funny" how you make up poop just to be seen to be right. The OP on the Insignia forum said he had a donor car - he didn't say it was a Vectra. The mention of Vectra in his posts is that someone had done an M32 to F40 swap in their Vectra.
Details matter because people find these posts months and years later and rely upon the information in them; so claiming that Vectra driveshafts or gearbox mounts would fit an Insignia is reckless. I've caught you in the past claiming repeatedly that a rear wheel drive gearbox would fit a Vectra in place of an F17. I even had to show examples of RWD and FWD gearboxes to illustrate the massive difference in shape. If you don't understand transmissions, and many don't, then please don't give out guesses as advice.
Better advice to the OP of this post would have been to tell him not to bother with the swap, for the following reasons. Any used F40 he buys will be from a turbocharged engine, thus an engine that produces relatively high torque at low revs. The Insignia's 1.8 has little torque, generated at relatively high RPM. Fitting an F40 will make the car even slower because the gearing will be too long for that engine. And of course there's also the issue that since Vauxhall never married that engine to the F40, the right interfacing parts - clutch, DMF, mounts - may not exist.
I did put a link up to the post: the op in that says he got all the parts from a donor and is using the f40 setup from a vectra ... also note it is a mk1 Insignia that has the same front subframe and shares parts with the vectra...
If it's wrong than it is not my fault see the link period end of story

also read the last post made by the OP:
Finally have the gearbox replaced.
I bought a brand new clutch set from Sachs and a brand new Dual Mass Flywheel and returned the clutch set which I bought previously.
The car just is such a pleasure to drive, it makes such a massive difference, that I can absolutely recommend everyone who has the M32 gearbox to make the investment and replace with F40 box.
It is a very relaxed drive and every gear picked up so much better from low rev, this wasn't possible with the M32 box.
I am sorry, no pictures as I didn't do it my self, but my mechanic told me it was just a straight reward job.
and FYI look at this... same code gearboxes used on the insignia mk1 so to drop the price of a used gearbox the Vectra one should be cheaper and a direct fit.
Again, more poop. A Vectra subframe will not fit any Insignia - the two cars have different chassis'. The Vectra uses the Epsilon chassis, in common with the Alfa 159/Brera and Saab 9-3SS, the Insignia uses the VSS chassis, in common with the last iteration of the 9-5. A Vectra-C subframe won't fit an Insignia any more than it will fit a Vectra-B or Vectra-A/Cavalier.
The sole reason why i pointed out the topic:
So he can ask someone who actually did the swap...
as no-one on the forum here has done it. So the link to that topic is still valid, It's to @pauluk49 to go and check the link and speak to the person who has done the swap that can tell him exactly what is involved and needed.
