Default IDS removed with tech 2

    Hi guys
Got a problem, the IDS that came as standard on the
car was removed by a previous owner and replaced
    with coilovers.

The issue is I’m getting is a code:P0318
rough road sensor, CDC continuous damper control fault

Iv been told you can turn this all off via tech 2
but my local Vauxhall garage is not sure this is possible

    Any help would be appreciated

It’s all detailed somewhere on the forum might be modifying as that’s what’s been done? Unless you can come to near Derby I can’t help, there were others I know near London but don’t use the forum now really.

You can not completely turn it off persay .
The cdc module will be constantly looking for the ids sensors /shocks etc and you will always have fault codes stored . All you can do is disable cdc in the Instrument cluster so you do not get the warning light on .
You can of course completely remove the cdc module and then turn it off on all the other modules but then you would lose the sport button function

I honestly would never drop the ids for coil overs, hell, not even for normal shocks. I ordered 4 refurbished shocks from poland and i believe they are the only one that refurbish them in the whole europe. Drove coilvered cars, it's ok when the pavement is good otherwise was just a pain in the kidneys. Considering how cheap they were a friend of mine wants to switch his normal suspension to IDS aswell but he has problem with finding bad ids shocks for a cheap price.
There are numerous things you can do, turn off the cdc module with opcom(i believe), remove the led for ids, put a resistor, lots of variants. It's up to you.

Depends what make of coilovers they are, B8’s on mine handle all situations perfectly but I can’t compare them unless someone else had an estate with all new suspension bushes and shocks to see if the hard setting would be any better.
I do know that old IDS shocks couldn’t control H&R springs and only stopped bouncing with sport on. So they were round about the same as standard SRI shocks off sport.
Plus each time I want to go round a corner fast I don’t want to have to keep pressing a button, at least this way I have perfect handling each time I drive.
But unless the coilovers are a grands worth it would be better removing them for some real suspension.

Exactly, you want performance? You gotta pay a hefty fine for that. You want something inbetween? You go ids. My wife doesn't like harsh suspension, that was another reason why i didn't fix the astra j, with lowered chasis and r18 wheels it was glued to the ground but when the road wasn't that good(like 80% of the time since this is romania) you will be happy if you kidneys were in the same spot when you arrived. With ids it's the best of the best of two, at least for me. Soft when i drive my wife or bumpy road and harder when i am alone playing with the car + the financial step for me. Now it's his decision to do what he thinks is better, go with coilovers, normal, or refurbished ids.

So if the guy doesn’t want performance in a performance car he can send me his map file and I’ll restrict the power output so it’s not performance anymore then they can have nice soft floppy suspension eh?
Then while they are at it remove the VXR badges and get nice friendly Life ones instead.

Well both versions arnt cheap so must be good, they all say for IDS+ so cant see why there should be any issues with them fitted.

To cut a long story short the IDS setup broke so last owner replaced them, when they broke they also damaged NSF harness/loom so they did a DIY fix which was shocking on a detailed inspection, iv been looking for a loom for ages now they like hen’s teeth.

iv had an auto electrician run a new loom in for the abs so that’s sorted, but the IDS is still active on the ecu so it throw’s
codes up etc, if this all makes sense. The rough road code CDC makes the car only rev to 2.5k in each gear.
