    Default Excessive footbrake travel

    Hi all.
I have just recently purchased a Brandnew 1.9cdti Vectra C.
It has covered only 300 miles and has developed a clunking/click sound from the handbrake, whilst i was out today pulling on the handbrake to check the clunking noise out i thought i'd start the engine and pump on the footbrake to see if i still get the clunking sound.
This is what i discovered. (clunking aside)
With the engine switched off the footbrake stays at the top of the pedal and doesnt sink what so ever (which is to be expected)
If i keep the pressure on the footbrake and start the engine the pedal falls slowly (which is to be expected) if i keep the same ammount of pressure on the footpedal it will continue to drop untill its at the floor (this doesnt seem right)
I tried this several times and i went out for a ride to get some heat into the brakes and still the pedal will go all the way to the floor with the engine running, Generally takes about 10 secs from top to floor.
When driving the car the brakes are fine and do what they are suppose to be doing.
Tomorrow my wife is going to vauxhall to see about a set of mats which we were suppose to get with the car, also she is going to ask about this handbrake clunk/cracking sound.
Should the excessive pedal travel also be mentioned?
Please let me know what your thoughts are .
    Regards,
    Stopi

Apart from these little niggles we love the car to bits!!!

the noise is comeing from the hand brake lever and you will need to take it back for them to look at it .(new unit)...as for the pedal that drops to the floor this is a common thing on vectra c and signum and is normal if you stamp on the pedal hard it will be firm but if you slowly place it on it will be soft and drop to the bottom ....the material between you foot and the master is of quick reaction material ...(like thos plastic speed humps) if you hit them hard and fast they stay firm if you slowly push them they will sink ....but do get them to check this for you at the dealer just to be 100% ....
