hello
hows it going everybody? im brian from liverpool.
funny story, i went to buy a nice, sensible family saloon and unwittingly found myself owning a 190 bhp sleeper. i had no idea until i got home and read through the service history. it had been looked after and had money spent on it but then i came across the paperwork for the re-map, it's had a couple of other mods but to be fair i have no clue what any of it means.
she started out as a vectra life and now has the SRI front end. the only real difference between my car and an sri (apart from the extra bhp) is the softer suspension, which is good news for my middle aged back!
ps. some of the paperwork mentions the owners club and the previous owners name, let me know if this was your car.

Welcome Brian .well done for passing first rule of the forum by posting up pictures Looks like the previous owner has added new front/rear lights /fog lights /wing mirror covers/side skirts/rear lip spoiler may be a whole new rear end also Alloy wheels .
Does it say who did the re-map ?
Far from a basic model now . May be has a few extra goodies inside ? seats /radio ??

thanks guys, the interior is still pretty standard except for the SRI steering wheel, ill add more pics later but its really clean, definitely been looked after. it has uprated brakes and im pretty sure the gearbox isn't the original as some of the bolt holes don't seem to line up underneath, it runs perfectly though, whoever did all the work knew what they were doing.
the remap appears to have been done at the same time as the brake upgrade, EGR delete and swirl flap disable in york on 17th january 2015 but there is no company name on the graph, ill post pics later.

welcome mate, yes as more speed means the smaller brakes might get overheated ... so the smart thing to do is to upgrade the brakes before you add more power... that said the gearbox not lining up in the bottom can be as simple as the person finally getting the thing on and still having it in gear, to lazy to rotate it to the right position as both the f35 and the f40 have the same size bellhousing aka it should line up and the only reason for it not to line up is because it was in gear... and didn't allow for enough rotation at that point but good enough to put the bolts in...(seen this on many a diy clutch replacement)
nothing to hard to sort if it annoys you... just make sure the box is in neutral, slacken all the bolts, line it up, tighten the bolts... put the bottom shield back on done.
also the seats might have been replaced for the ones with lumbar support rear storage pockets and height adjustment... something that is standard on an SRI so you might think it is just the standard seats but you might be wrong there..

yep, had a good look and its had all the toys from an sri put on and in, as far as i can tell the only real difference between my car and a proper sri is the softer suspension and the lack of bluetooth. it does have the f40 box and its nice and smooth so i'll leave it alone.
having run it for a few months now i can confirm it is f**king lovely, everything works inside, nice and comfortable, loads of room, heater gets hot and the a/c gets cold.
it drives really well, starts first time every time, she doesn't like the first ten minutes on cold days but once warmed up it relaxes and pulls down the road with no effort.
the only thing i could complain about is i have to replace the n/s headlight assembly because the tiny connector for the indicator bulb has snapped off and it wont complete the circuit.
aside from that i really cant believe how much car i got for the money (not including the half tank of diesel and the four brand new goodyears)
not bad for a car that is heading rapidly towards her second spin round the clock!
also, she is a little bit thirsty.
and for some reason my mpg display goes ape**** from time to time and starts fluctuating wildly between thousands of miles per gallon and very few miles per gallon. speedbumps are to blame for this fault.
oh and i keep catching my little finger in the door handle when im getting out, and that sucks.

A belated welcome mate. Nice looking motor.
Looks like you need some front top mounts by the way - also noticed the abs support bracket on the Nearside is only held on with one of the top mount bolts and just resting on the other. That might be giving you a little ‘click’ noise going over bumps??
