Default Oil filter housing 3.2 vectra

I've been trying to undo my oil filter to fit new filter but when I try to take the cap off the whole housing is turning ,I've tried to put a chain ratchet to hold it but there's not enough room ,so if I keep turning it will it finally be able to remove the whole housing?

Try to pull back the whole housing and see what happens. Your situation is somehow abnormal: the housing should be kept in place by 1 hollow screw located down to the inner bottom of housing, but as far as you can rotate it I suppose screw is screwed and you should be able to remove it by pulling.
If by any chance I could be wrong, you should be able to remove it by keeping turning on...
