Both were treated(inner&outer) with rust converter(as in the right pic) and painted in black.
Sometime in the near past, about 3 months ago, I've retrofitted an ESP on/off switch; also a combined work of me and technician.
I've bought an ESP/ABS connector from scrap in order to extract the necessary pin to put in my actual connector. Not complicated but had to study a little bit how to extract it in one piece otherwise you could break it with ease. Also used a special key for pins extracting, had a set of these(about 15 pcs) for long time but never used them before.
I installed the pin(no. 3 in my connector as informations across internet stated) and introduced its wire in the cabin through original wire crossing(it's not so easy because of working position w. very little seeing but patience will win: I've used a steel wire attached to the needed wire and introduced it from cabin to engine, seems to me far easier this way).
From here technician took over and installed original switch and some additional wires. His job was about 20-30 minutes.
All in all is not a big job to install required no.3 pin & wire but, for me personally, it was a no go for supplementary wires for switch because there were none already installed as other cars already may have them.
For now I have a fully functional ESP on/off switch. Had no needed oportunity to use it until now, but felt necessary to have it in a muddy area where got stuck in the past, just before installed it.

the only cars that have it prewired are the pre-facelift models afaik I was meaning to do the same but somehow it literally never got on my todo- or must-have list, thanks for reminding me
Wanted some sporty-looking pedal pads for a while...Today got a set of those(PRC made, but looking fine enough for me) and installed them:
Final result:
Product code(maybe useful if someone interested):
nice, how are they fixed on?
Identical to originals(as you can see in the "backside" pic, no.3 for this subject) but much tighter...for a few seconds I've thought they wouldn't fit at all, it took me some effort to put them on...well, to be honest, working position under dashboard is not a piece of cake for a 200 pounds dude...
