Default Dashboard lights went out ?

Hi i have a 2006 1.8 vvt z18xer petrol .Today while out driving all the dash lights came on then all went out while car was running .No speedo or clocks lit up only lcd sceen on radio. This is a facelift model.Read through some other threads regarding similar issues. Was gonna check fuse 17 and 26 (will check all fuses while i'm there) .Could this be a problem with bad solder joint on IPC board or connector or is it an issue with the cim .will do a full system scan tomorrow and check alternator just in case. This has only happened this once but think it will happen again.Any other tips ? cheers

I fixed mine recently. First things to check are the fuses and the ABS plug as some of the CIM goes through that.
Some contact cleaner on the dash connector would fix it for a week or so but it wasn't until I disassembled the dash completely and re-soldered that it was permenantly fixed. I put pictures on a thread somewhere that showed clearly how there was no solder at all on one of the connections.
Hour job and there's a video on YouTube on how to disassemble

Hi cheers was thinking about the solder joints.Scanned car yesterday and there was loads of fault codes regarding IPC and CIM.cleared them all and re scanned and a couple came back but not IPC or CIM .Would expect loads of codes if there was a communication error.will get some contact cleaner tomorrow and try the usual things as said in other threads but i think it could be same as yours with the dash (hope so if the fuses or connection spray does not fix).It has only happened once but reckon it will return. Also checked battery and alternator which seem fine.

Mine was off more than it was on when I resorted to soldering it. If yours has only gone once then I wouldn't go to the trouble of opening it up

Engine bay, in the nearest proximity of brakes pipelines, then you should see one big connector like this:
