    Default VXR replacement rear springs

    Evening all,

It turns out I have a broken rear driver-side coil-spring on the VXR.

My questions is this: What are a good replacement brand? Do we know who makes the genuine Vauxhall springs? I'm not looking to get it lowered as I think the rear sits perfectly as it stands (both sides sit the same even now), but I've not ever replaced OE springs before on any of my previous Vauxhall's, so I don't know what's a good brand to go for. I see KYB come up a lot, but would be nice to hear your thoughts & opinions.

    Thanks

OEM manufacturer is Sachs... but KYB, Eibach and basically almost all aftermarket spring manufacturers have springs for the vectra including the VXR and the VXR estate... and they all have a set that is the same as the OEM one. So basically it is up to what manufacturer you choose in the end the original ones are known to break after afew years and i have changed mine when i just bought the car and went for OEM Sachs.. 5 years later and all the powdercoating on the rear springs is gone(fronts still look like new) .... they are a rusty mess at the moment but still good not broken... I will be taking them off soon and either replace them with new or have them powdwercoated again.

    Thanks for the info, Northpole.

I've had Eibach lowering springs on a Cav and H&R lowering springs on my Nova & Astra G GSi and they've been fantastic. I wasn't aware that you can get standard ride height springs from Eibach, that would be something I'd be very interested in. As for KYB, I've used their Gas & sports shocks on a lot of the carts I have and I've been pleased so going by that I'd presume them to have good quality springs too. Are the later VXRs the same ride height as the early ones or have there been tweaks to the suspension aside form the IDS2?

Have you looked through the Sachs catalogue?
Why would you want to lift the car using standard springs?

If your facelift VXR body is hatchback(as I suppose) then you're looking for GM(OEN) 93171837. Using this on autodoc.co.uk(or whatever) you'll find out what you need from different producers with good prices too...good luck!

he doesnt want to lift it he said he never lowered it but now that he has a broken spring on one side the car sits level... it just means that the one spring that isn't broken is compressed more... replace it with OEM springs and the rear will lift up. also body-roll will be enhanced a little vs the old springs but all in all the ride quality will improve. Unless you to lessen body roll and have less of an arch gap well than there is no other solution than to go for lowering springs.. -30mm will be a nice upgrade that will bring the gap down, keep some comfort ( read not a harsh ride) but with it being the VXR also introduce scraping the front bumper on ramps... hell my SXI (now closer to elite trim) just about clears the ramps on the standard sport springs... luckily mine is a preface with the SRI front bumper (same as the GSI)so the soft ABS bumper lip takes all the abuse.
