Exclamation Electrical problems in the boot with pre-facelift Signum 2.2DTI 2003

    Hello, everyone!

I have a few problem in the boot.. My license plate lights, 3rd brake light and the boot mechanism (electrical part) isn't working. I already measure mass to REC, which is okay, but I can't find the positive. What could be the problem? It looks like the problem could be cause by condensation, but all contacts looks alright, but not perfect of course. Any suggestions and/or experience?

Check loom where it goes from body into tailgate.

seems like no-one has had this exact problem before... all i can say is have you tried replacing the fuses with new ones in the rec? I had a ton of electrical gremlins that i cured by replacing all the mini fuses in all 3 fuse boxes... every single one that came out was still good but had this nasty residue on them... i decided to clean a few but when i used my multimeter they gave to much resistance.. so i decided to replace the oem ones with new ones... most problems were gone.. i still have one electrical problem but it means removing the door module in the rear.. something that can wait until it is warmer.

About the weather, that's true. From what I understand I just need a quick fix for the license plate lights, because the rear tailgate lights are working properly. Talking about the small fuses, I also checked all the rear ones and they also seemed okay. Maybe your suggestion could do something good. My car's MOT has ended, that's why I was thinking about a quick fix for the license plate lights. The loom seems alright, no damaged wires, the earth also seems good. I could measure the resistance, might be that it is too high. The problem started when the rear boot door opened 3 out of 5 times, until it completely stopped working. Why I think it could be a damaged or faulty REC is, because of these symptoms: the fuel cap isn't locking/opening, can be opened with using a little force to wiggle it open, the rear boot isn't opening, even tho the mechanical part is working fine, the rear license plate lights and 3rd brake light isn't working. I could check the centre and front fuses also, because I only checked the rear fuses. I'll do this and I will give an update. I also did remove the battery from the bonnet, because it had sad in the cold for approx. 3 weeks without the car being started-up.

    Update:
All I did was just remove the battery from the car for 12 hours, the ECU restarted and everything is now working. I chekced both grounds in the boot by the spare tyre and everything was okay. So anyone who might have similar problem. Try removing the battery for 12-24 hours, that might help, because all my fuses were flawless, I even cleaned the contacts with electronical contact cleaner. So God bless that the problem wasn't as bad as I first intended for it to be.

Typical... but i bet you the cleaning helped a bit... although I found that just erasing all the fault codes with the not talked about software, does the same a lot faster
