1.9 sealant info
Im in the middle of a engine swap on my zafira as head gasket went had a hard 160k life ,new lump on 90k and cleanest 1.9 I’ve seen not getting much answers elsewhere on changing a few parts but don’t know if i need sealent on some
1- complete egr delete brand new and came with cardboard gasket for inlet and metal exhaust type for turbo end
2- my new engine came with old style black metal coolant pipe so taken that off to replace with new alloy type but unsure if i need to put sealant on the square bit that bolts to block,it has metal gasket but was going to add some anyway
3-inlet has metal gasket but will it harm it by running sealer round when fitting my welded inlet
4- rear main seal, read some do - some dont put sealer on the bottom
Any information would be great on what else to check whilst out
So far I’ve changed/ready to fit ,brand new alternator, new starter, complete removal of egr, welded inlet, rear main seal, new LuK dmf/clutch kit,new gates timing belt and water pump, new full aftermarket intercooler set up and coolant hoses, and full service with genuine 5w30 engine oil, filters and comma gearbox oil
Just seeing if what else i should do

you only use liquid gasket where there are rubber parts, and only if you aren't replacing the old gasket... other than that you leave it be... the only parts where i use it as an extra measure are on the cooling system and oil system when there is a part that needs replacing by itself but it has a rubber gasket/seal.

I changed the inlet today and didn’t bother with sealant but i did put a bit on the coolant pipe that joins to the head, going to put a bit on rear main seal and thats it also transferred my loom and rail as the engine i got was a single plug type and also came from a Cadillac bls/saab so different loom to the zaf but all went well and fully wired and plummed up ready to fit

Managed to get a few hours on it today and put clutch and gearbox back on,then back in the bay and the way it was hanging lined it up with gearbox mount put bolts in then lowered hoist to line up engine mount and the holes on the block mount didn’t line up with zaf mount so had to to swap that over and just managed to get engine bolted in minus rear mount and ran out of daylight but determined to get it fired up tomorrow only wiring/pluming and engine oil and go for first start

She’s a runner but either out of diesel or fpr needs changing as it wouldn’t start on me the day before I started changing engine and got these 2 codes,
started on brake clean though, did a 50ml round trip but low on diesel to the point the needle didn’t move as i pulled up to my house, next morning went to start it and wouldn’t start ,done a code read and got them codes going to bung diesel in tomorrow if not just change the rail sensor
