    Default Vectra B 2.6 (Y26SE) fitted G cams.

Can anyone that has had previously had a Vectra B 2.6 tell if the car will run properly with G cams fitted? I was previously using 4XA cams and the car drove fine but I then bought a pair of G cams and replaced the A inlets with G cams and now the car is running quite rough, thought it was timing so I redid it but still no difference.

Does the engine management system not like the G cams or is the issue something else?

it's all about the the longer lift duration from the G cam giving more overlap and thus causing a "lumpy idle" but at high revs it actually makes for more BHP.... I'd say you either deal with the lumpy idle or stay with the less aggressive ones... there is a reason some of the cams are labelled for race use only... and the lumpy idle is one of them.

up to you but if the timing is right and the car drives with more grunt you are done... or put the old ones back and enjoy the car idling normally....

I was just wondering if the timing markings on cam gears need adjusting anywhere because of the longer valve open duration? I've tried asking other forums but no one seems to know, I thought maybe surely there is some owners with Vec Cs that previously owned a Vec Bs that has done this. Thanks for the info.

No you DO NOT mess with the timing it stays the same the ecu will advance or retard if needed.... put it out of spec and turn your engine into a big paperweight...

Ps the best solution is to get your ecu remapped to account for the extra overlap...
