I've looked at these on eBay but I can't work out how they connect.
It looks like there is a MOFSET in line and the connector itself is just a plastic tab with the contacts on either side, does that plastic tab just plug straight in to the OEM connector or is there any modification required?

    Plug and play mate.

Remove the side repeaters from the wings. Handbook shows how to. Twist and pull the connecting plug out of the original side repeaters. Remove the 5W5 capless orange bulb. push in the plastic tab that has the contacts either side, making sure you have the polarity correct or they won't work.

The ones I bought from eBay show that the wiring fits into the new repeater lights, just like they do on the factory fit ones. However, the ones they sent had flying leads and no provision to protect the electrical connections from the elements (i.e. no hole to push the connector into). I've just wrapped some self amalgamating tape around the connectors to keep any water out.

I mentioned this to the seller that the description was incorrect. He ended up giving me a 30% refund. So, instead of costing me £10.80, I paid £7.56 for them
