Rear courtesy lights not working (sort of)

Hello, I recently bought a 2007 Signum, and I noticed that the rear courtesy lights work when you press the button for them, but they don't when the doors are opened. Tapping on the plastic part makes them light up (or stop working from the doors) even when the doors are opened. What could be the issue here?

Only other thing I can think of is disconnect battery and reconnect to see if that 'resets'. Apart from that, the other thing is to wait for one of the technical gurus here to help you solve the problem.

It's possible to have some bad/losen contact on that lamp...removing the lamp and its connector may give you an idea about the problem. Cleaning the connector with contact spray would be also recommended.
