Poor idling and revving issues insignia 1.8 SRI

Hi, New here.
have an 2011 Insignia 1.8 petrol SRI.. few issues looking for advice.
went on a 10 mile drive, parked up for 50 minutes, started car up, revs were at 3000 and then suddenly dropped after a minute or so then started hunting at around 500-800. drove 10 mile back car kept revving up to 2500-3000 when slowing down through the gears. intermittent slumps that lasted seconds. when got back left it idling and the engine management light came on and so did the service soon light.
started this morning, no lights all fine, but started playing up again after 8 miles but no lights.

any help would be appreciated

Don't know the insignia so can't help at the moment moment but your first job should be to find out what those codes are/we're. They should be stored (as freeze frames I think they're called) and that'll help pinpoint the issue.

does anyone know if the dephaser pulley makes a squeaking noise when on their way out?

Sounds like diaphragm could be split in cam cover when it does it take oil cap off see if it idles better

Hi troutybrown,
When the car is cold it runs fine, but when it gets warm there is a very loud hissing noise from the rocker cover, difficult to take filler cap off when hissing.
Would that be the diaphragm?
