    Default Intercooler question

    I was wondering if the fmic setup for a 150cdti would still work on a VXR? Any difference is pipe work etc?

    Only asking as I took the one off my SRI before she went to the scrap yard and have it laying around though keen to see if it will fit my Vec VXR.

    Take the bumper off its 5 mins as you know. Look through the diaries of those with a 2.8t and you might see pics as well if you don't take it off. You might have missed my post a while back https://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showt...ercooler-sizes

    Anyway, don't it's too small its flowing more air than a 1.9 even though its at lower boost.

    Much appreciated for the info DB.

    Didnt actually see your previous post in the link but made for a good read, have to agree that I'm in the same position as you were with regards to the price and also the figment of a larger cooler, wouldn't it lessen the gaind a bit being blocked by the crash bar? Also would the radiator still get enough airflow to it with a larger cooler blocking its air flow?
    I had read about people using Evo fmic's before though was unsure of the fit, if things needed moved around or just custom brackets to hold the cooler in place?
    Ideally I would have still liked to have had a lower mounted cooler similar to the cdti as it got cool air directly onto it but as you said the flow rate is much too low.

    Apologies for all the questions, just looking for all the info I can get before committing to anything.

    Log your intake temps for a while so you can see what ambient is compared to intake. Then fit your smaller fmic then log the same and see if you see it drop, you'll need high power runs as well though while its boosting along to see if it actually works. Im sure i posted somewhere but due to lack of solid info me and one of the others on here who hasn't posted for years worked out the 2.8 needed the larger cooler due to its cc as its moving more air regardless of pressure. But as you might know already youll need custom mounts for the condenser to move it back to the rad.
    Would be interesting to see, ive already got a forge large intercooler ready to modify and mate to a larger custom rad as it works out cheaper for a one off than buying a courtenay one.

    Also, look at the standard set up for all boosted Vectras. They are all about the same and none have air flow issues over the rad do they?
