car not starting
Hi guys
So this morning I put the ignition on, on my car to fill air in the tyres but didn't start it.
Later in the day, i went to start it. It started and the cut out straight away and then another time. Then it would just crank but not start couple of times. Now it doesn't even crank, you can just here some electronics trying to start but it won't
I did the pedal test and have the following
P0365
P1614
P1616
I believe the first one is a sensor, which may just be there and the second 2 something to do with immobilisers etc. after reading up a bit, i think the second 2 codes are causing the issue. But any input would be great.
Now if it is the second 2 codes causing the issue, as i see it can either be the immobiliser in the key not working or the CIM needs replacing.
The issue is I only have 1 key, so i can't dismiss the key being an issue by trying to use a spare key. Also don't have any diagnostics equipment I can check with.
Don't have the car pass code either. I would assume to fix either of these issues I am going to need that? Does anyone know how much they cost and what I need to provide to Vauxhall?
finally anyone know decent place to take it in hertfordshire/north london. my usual mechanic is good, but was thinking a vauxhall specialist of someone with experience on this issue may be better.
cheers guys

If i were you read here instead of general vectra chat and find out what others have gone through and inform your mechanic.

the first one is a camshaft sensor fault... usually solved by replacing the sensor
the 2 others are immobilizer as you suspected... usually solved by replacing the battery in the keyfob than opening the door with the key than put it in the contact to start the car... it should work unless the transponder is busted./in that case your only solution is to have a new key made and added to the immobilizer or have the insides replaced by a mobile car key guy.. if you got AA or Greenflag check what is covered as sometimes you are covered for immobilizer problems.

Those little plug in air compressors do take a lot of battery juice which is why they suggest running the engine while using them.
The fact that the car doesn't crank, suggests the battery is flat.

i would have thought the battery would be fine as the buttons work on the keyfob to open the car.

That is true, i'm sure it has a weak battery anyway. A while ago I put the hazards on for a while with the engine off and it didn't start first time.
I'll try and jump start it later, hopefully its the battery! Don't want to spend much on it, I maybe getting a company car in a couple of months.

Cam sensor would most likely cause it to either not start or start and then cut out, battery will cause the immobilizer codes, unless it cutting out and you cranking it afterwards has thrown the immobilizer codes up (with low charge)
Try a new battery and see how it runs first, if it still throwing problems at you, replace a cam sensor, or both (think that engine has two)
It's a process of elimination at the moment as the codes are inconclusive
Ideally you need to clear the codes and try starting it again and see what is thrown up afterwards

always clear the codes first than try and start it and see what codes come back... after you've made sure you have a good battery or a jump start since you think the battery is weak... (don't know if you've tried a trickle charger but i would suggest you use that to top it up)

Thanks for the replies guys. Turns out it was the most common sense thing that I was overlooking - the battery! I think filling the air in my tyres that morning using the cig lighter must have killed it.
New battery in and all sorted now.
