    Default tinted silver sri

well the recommended tinting guy of the area did a fine job, he's one of the ones that like to remove glass to tint it, but I had him limo the rear screen, rear triangles, and apply a sunstrip.. notihng removed, he wasnt keen on doing the rear door windows, so another local he recommended will be tasked with those soon ... ( this guy does the big rear windows in 2 parts .. no no.. not for me lol

2 hours work, and the paltry sum of £60 .. highly impressed

    - if the tinter that did my Signum could do it in one piece (and you've seen the curve on that glass) why on earth can't he do a Vectra rear screen in one piece?

I'd say one or two down for the rears - to get a graduated effect. I did this on mine, with a very light front tint as well to keep the effect....

its all about how they are taught apparantly... I would never have 2 pieces of film on one window ..

I knew the sunstrip wouldnt be to all's taste, but the sun almost bilnds me even in Britain lol... so it was almost mandatory ..

I reckon we work at the same place Lee..

Two pieces for the rear screen used to be common practice, they've now moved onto a new method of one piece & heated so it takes the form of the curve. This is done whilst laid on the outside of the rear screen then applied to the inside with the perfect shape.

I've lost count how many window tints I've watched being done as we used to sub one in to do our customers cars & he's never removed the window glass as a: there is no need to & b: as there is no need to it's a huge waste of time. They do remove the trim along the bottom edge of the glass to make sure they cover beneath this line.

Personally I'd be questioning this guys abbilities at what he claims to do.

I was there for the 2 hours .. he never removed any glass, and his work is impeccible imo ..

he mentioned the mechanisms needed de-riveting, which is no great issue if its something your used to . ..but obviously he wasnt happy doing it .. at least he was honest with me

have you looked at the rear side windows on the vec... it wont be easy to film them .. without, like you said, removing trim, and it wont be just the lower part ..

As Ben said, no real need to de-rivet the glass - or totally remove it. Tints can be fitted by just removing various amounts of trim - door cards, window and interior trims so that the edges of the film are then hidden behind the trim.

In fact you don't want to have your window de-riveted and removed as it's a bit of a number and if not refitted properly (i.e. straight) a very good chance your windows won't close correctly and you'll have wind noise.

Again, as Ben said and further to what I said, the rear screen should be easily tintable in one piece on a Vectra C - especially if a Signum can be done that way, so I'd be wary of anyone saying that it needs done in two pieces and that your windows need to be de-riveted to tint.
