confused Help from NZ - 2006 Vauxhall Vectra C 1.9 CDTi - Im Stuck

Greetings from NZ - New Member
Brought a Vauxhall Vectra 1.9CDTi here in NZ couple of weeks ago - probably only one in NZ as it was a emigrates personal car import from the UK. The equivalent Holden Vectra C in NZ did not come out with the 1.9CDTI donk.
Anyhow was all going great until 2 days ago - wife just left home & 1km down the road at a intersection went to take off and suddenly lost power - put her foot down to leave interesection and nothing - she limped across the intersection and stopped. Turned off car and called me - car won't start now, attempts to sort of, but no go.
I had a quick look yesterday and see the swirl flap linkage has popped off the top of all the swirl flaps.
Question - obviously that is possibly part of my starting issue but i thought it would at least start and run - is there anything else that i should be looking at that in the 1st instance to see why our new toy won't run - or is there something else that would happen in sympathy with my swirl flap problem - in the interim all i want to do is at least limp it home to sort the swirl flap issue.
Cheers for any assistance - as you can imagine - parts for my new beast are very limited down under.

on a 1.9 150bhp version not usually terminal, new rockers, cambelt etc etc on your way, worst way is i've seen it snap the camshaft between no.1 and no.2
on a 120bhp version its normally new engine time
