Default Heads we win, tails you lose!

My 2007 V6 Turbo Signum (with sunroof...) was rammed amidships by a woman who couldn't be bothered to look in my direction while she was coming out of a side turning.

She admitted liability and her insurance (NFU) were looking after the repair, but now they're saying that the repair will cost more than the value of the car. But THEIR value is £1700, and the parts alone (both doors) come to £1400.

I'm sure the car's worth more than that, but Signums are rare anyway, V6s even rarer and ones with sunroofs are like hen's teeth!

So where would I find a more realistic value, and paperwork to back it up so I can go against them please?

Pics of the damage attached, just because....

The only way you are going to get the price for repairs down would be a visit to the scrap yards to see what is about and then buy your car back for pennies .

just buy it back and have it repaired with used parts as suggested... the damage doesn't seem to be structural so it's oem new parts and labour to sort it out that are making it so high they don't want to repair it... to be fair you should ask your insurer how much % the tipping point is for them to declare it a TL if they work out that it is just on the brink of it than you might be able to get them to repair it. otherwise it'll be a buy it back scenario take the money for a replacement vehicle to repair this one. in the mean time get a cheap run about until the car is sorted that you can flog or scrap right after the car is done.

I'm lucky that I have a Volvo 850 Estate to get around in, and a 2004 pre-face 2.0T Signum that's been SORN'd for a year waiting for one headlamp! But I got one last week, so I should have enough to get around in while I'm getting the V6 fixed up.

It's the attitude of the insurance companies that gets me, they actually EXPECT me to say 'Yeah, OK, scrap it' as If I'd want to get rid of that WONDERFUL V6!
