OK - update. Last week did about 1200 miles. Generally the car drove OK with no fault light, but was still logging P0011-061 in the background, which I got by daily checking on the laptop. However, if I stopped the car once warm and set off shortly after it put the light on until I cleared it ( sometimes a few times too ) It's got to be something affected by heat soak I think, so in for a penny...... I fitted a replacement full engine loom yesterday. Once I get a replacement throttle cooling pipe and can test it, I'll let you know ( brittle little things those pipes - broke both but only had a spare for the one from the thermostat )

Right - still doing it, but now throwing low voltage at that solenoid.

Jon - my TIS is so old it runs on steam. Is that suggesting a possible ECU fault ? ( if so I know just the man down Sprowston Road )

check uec fuse fe14 10 amp that feeds it.

think you need to go through wiring from uec through to ecu.

could be bad wiring uec or ecu.

    As above clean fuse 14.
Pin no.3 on ecu is yellow/violet that goes to inlet vvt solenoid.
Also check for corrosion but imagine you already done this when loom was changed.

Fuse 14 also feeds Oxygen sensors.
