Is the timing belt on the dmax half a engine job only? its in the paperwork as done at 105k miles when do i do it again thanks? big job or small job? is it wise to do the alternator at the same time? Thanks...........

At another 100k... not the alternator but the auxiliary belt and it's tensioner would be wise to do at the same time including the waterpump. And at 200K you might want to replace the front crankshaft oil seal too...

Almost the same as replacing the DMF, clutch, pressure plate and CSC is to do at the same time. It's also wise to do the rear crankshaft oil seal when replacing the DMF. Especially when you are at 200k.

Also check with tech2/t2win that it’s set to quiescent current optimiz so it can go to sleep, and save battery.

To check if the alternator is working fine you can use a multi meter and check the voltage when the car is running... anything below 13.5 volt means it's seen better days... you can test it at the battery poles.

14.2 to 14.3 v but battery sometimes will not crank the car enough to start ie flat battery. Not always but sometimes. The battery was new but i still changed it.

That would be the startermotor showing signs of ware.

Yeah I thought that with mine but it didn't start the car straight up... until it refused 100%.

Replaced it and pulled the old one apart... no ware on the normal parts but the big 12v braided line in it broke.... so it would just spark over.

So if you haven't changed the starter yourself I suggest younlook at that. They don't live forever
