    Default Opel Vectra C 2.2 DTI misfire when engine is cold

    Hey guys! I have a slight problem with my beloved 2004 Opel Vectra C 2.2 DTI. So.. whenever I turn on my engine for the first time (when it's completely cold), it tends to misfire after 10 seconds of running, but the misfire goes away after 2-3 minutes. What I've changed so far:
    - The fuel hoses going to the injectors;
    - The "T" plastic piece thingies;
    - The vacuum hoses;
    - All of the filters;
    - The MAF;
    - The EGR / Elobau are blanked off or.. "reprogrammed", the ECU can't see them.
    I've plugged in my OP-COM and it had no fault codes, the parameters are also fine. When we've purchased (a year ago), it's had lots of old fault codes, one of them was about the fuel pump. But the car starts up fine, it doesn't smoke, it's also chip tuned and after it warms up a little bit (hell, even when it's misfiring), the torque is great. What could be the cause then?

    Dirty tank, fuel, fuel filter, injectors or fuel lines... run a diesel.purge replace the fuel filter and see if it goes away.

    What about water in the fuel filter housing? Aka should I try draining the condensation perhaps?

    If you drain that you'll have to top it up you can see the state.of the filter... make sure you clamp off the fuel pipes so you have almost no air in it as the dti's are not self bleeding

    Oh, huh.. I'm quite scared to change the fuel filter since I know the problems of 2.2 DTI's, or I know these engines really well.. The fuel filter was changed like 9k km ago..

    Yeah and than it died off camera I got a dti and know just how annoying it is to bleed them but found that using clamps to close both fuel lines right after the filter greatly reduces the chance of it not starting...

    Alternatively you can crack the fuel pipes on each injector to bleed the air out but that is a messy job.

    What about the glowplug relay? Last summer I've changed all of the glowplugs to new Bosch ones and after that I got a Glowplug relay fault code. I've erased it a few times and now there are no fault codes. The strange thing is that it only misfires ONCE a day, never again..

    If you turn the key and the glowplug light turns on and the car fires up the relay works... a misfire will not come from that... and if you suspect the glowplig relay... pull them out connect them up, ground the body and turn the key you should see nice glowing tips on each and every one of them.

    Back to your misfire: it could be just water or a dirty filter or a dirty fuel system... it is why insaid run a diesel purge... or a really strong cleaner (a fuel additive like liquimoly diesel purge) and more chuck it in the tank...

    Once that tank is almost empty the problem should.go away... but I'll advise you to change the fuel.fikter after that as it does clean out the complete fuel system including the tank... so the filter will be filthy and it is best to replace it... if you don't want to do it yourself take it to a garage and have it done.

    Can I just use a fuel additive (like, buy a diesel fuel additive and pour it into my fuel tank) and run it until it's almost empty? Will it do the same effect as doing a diesel purge?
