Keyless entry

Has anyone ever attempted this? there is a tactile on the dash for it.

I just press unlock on my remote to get in, works every time.

Nope you still need the key in the contact to start it.. so it's pointless, would be different if you install a push start button and make sure the keyless entry actually doesn't need the immobiliser transponder to be in a certain spot but can stay in your pocket... if not.. well than it's still pointless. as you still need to have the key somewhere where the immobiliser can read it.

The idea was to install the keyless entry from the Astra's it has a separate module for keyless entry.

Than you should've pointed that out... but yeah as i said you'll have to see if you can keep the key in your pocket without the immobiliser having a problem because it can't find the immobiliser transponder...

And afaik most cars that have proper keyless entry use rf-id systems that replace the immobiliser and transponder setup.

It still needs to be located in the right spot for it to work though... so why not just use the key?

On the otherhand if you have access to all the parts for free why not?

There are aftermarket kits that supply all the parts including a remote key fob that works with that system and can be fitted with a matching blank blade you can have cut to match just incase you need to use the key because of a power problem and need access to the interior.

But imho it is just a gimmicky replacement of what works just fine.

I thought that’s what keyless entry was? Rather than using a key to unlock the door and activate the central locking to get in you use the remote to open hence keyless entry.

It may be a separate module but there is no option for it on veccy for it, weather cim swap would work but you’ll probably need the Astra bcm/rec but would it be compatible I doubt it. Better off asking some off the auto techs who do alarm fittings some do this option with viper system or there is one cheap pke one but think you need an extra module for ignition. And if it works on veccy is another thing.
