CDTi Nonsense or True?

Bit of a weird one this -

Down the Pub Thurs evening as you do - Bumped into a Guy I have met once B4. He has seen my Signum and he has a Pre F/L Elite Vec C - 1.9 Cdti. Conversation turns to our cars: -

He Goes - Mines a 180 Cdti....

I Say - Vauxhall never made a 180 Cdti engine.

He Says - Its a Special Lancia Developed engine.....

I say - Your a to$$er. And walk away.

Am I Right or is he telling the truth?

He did ramble on a bit about how this failed under warranty etc etc blah blah - then he mentioned a remap that VX did under warranty that made it a 180 - blag blag.

He also said that he got VX to make the Climate Control turn on with his C/L - so on a hot day he could cool the car B4 he got in...... Yeah Right

Are you sure it was a 1.9 CDTI and not a 3.0 V6 CDTI, as that would be marketed as a "180 CDTI"
VX had a habit of uprating them...
The 1.8 SRi 120 was 122bhp
The 2.0 SRi 140 was 136bhp
The 2.5 SRI 170 was 175bhp

Vauxhall never made any of the engines (strictly), but they are using a diesel engine with approx 180bhp - and it's badged CDTi...
It hasn't got a whiff of Lancia about it anywhere though, so that is pure BS.
