but, my personal take is, if this was the way to go, then manufacturers ( not primarily the car manufacturers ) but people like Delphi and the likes would put this into production.

now, the polish guy could be holding the rights to this and not willing to let go until the right offer is on the table, but with the amount of cars on the road that this seal affects, you would think they'd be clambering to get the rights.

maybe they've looked into the metal one and found flaws - we don't know.

but for the sake of the seal being around a tenner and a couple of hours work stripping the sump off etc.....I'll buy another OEM if needed. but in the meantime, if my led comes on and mines regens from now until i do the DPF delete, I'll let the regen finish lol

I don't have a Vauxhall these days so this doesn't affect me i'm only looking at it as an engineer with over 40 years experience and from what i see this mod eliminates the possibility of this happening in the future even if the o rings failed you would still get enough oil into pump for engine to have lubrication. And i'm in no way connected with anyone about this just trying to put in my view a better option out there.

totally understandable...........but i look at it as the owners / guys who have replaced it, aren't favouring the metal one, then do they know something we don't?
or are they scared of progress??

some of the most obvious solutions aren't always the best bud

To me that defies logic to eliminate the cause of the problem.

until its been tried and tested, then i doubt many will try it.

its like everything else in this world, until something has been proven by the masses, the sheep wont follow lol

It would be to expensive for them to do it that way, the oem is really cheap it only needs a mould tool and off the machine goes. Once its working thats that, the machined price needs the matiral and that needs controlling. Then it needs machining and inspecting then you need to fit 2 o rings and control the procurement of them as well quality control etc.

Ive got a fair amount less than you and immediately it makes sense plus even if it cracks it cant go anywhere as its trapped. The OEM seal is quite big so could disintegrate into bits easily. Plus as you know you can get different materials so you'd just spec the o ring in the best oil fuel and heat resistance material possible.
