    Default vectra suspension

Benn working on a site where one of the employees has a vectra c as well , for some odd reason he was drooling over my heap , anyways ... my car handles like a brage in a force 10 gale , the back end you can push it down one handed and it bounces like an over happy space hopper , the front ends soft as hell also , his on the other hand a 04 ls rep tool was pretty stiff allround compared to my (apparently) uk tuned barge , is there known failings or weak components in the vecs suspension ? the springs feel too weak and the dampers do not have enough resistance , the back ends always bobbing about .

the rear end dampers are a very well known failing point..have you checked them for oil staining on the lower casings?. they leak like sieves..

not noticed any oil mate , but it does feel weaker all round than the 04bcar , you can bounce the car up and down like a 1970's cortina !

I replaced my rear shocks with Monroe gas filled, miles better than VX carp ones, transformed the rear end. Oh and they were £60 the pair.

Thats good to know then as we sell Monroe stuff at work and for their sports shocks for mine it works out £90 the set.

Bouncing up and down means your shocks are definatly gone, you are riding on your springs alone.

The origional springs aren't very stiff unless you have a sports set up anyway so you might as well do the whole lot now.

I went for Eibach lowering springs and 20% uprated hydraulic shocks. Didn't get round to fitting them all before someone smashed me though, so can't review them. The eibach springs do what they say on the tin though.

Before buying, I would take your car to an MOT garage and get the axels weighed, so that you get the right sets (can't trust the plates).

Incredible! from 3 dealers in town nobody has them (spring covers) They have to order them from who knows where (probably Europe) and they don´t know how long they will take to arrive if I order them.....another check mark for the dealers!
