    Default 3.2 V6 Auto CDXi 2005- P1895 transmission error

    Hi

    i have a ZC CDXi V6 auto, it is a 2005 model before the facelift, 3.2 L.

It is throwing error code P1895 - the transmission ECU/TCM does not appear to be talking to the engine ECU.

I am planning on changing the oil.. The level i have checked is ok and there is no apparent water in the oil..

Resetting the code works for a while but it comes back after a few days.

Apart from oil change any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have already changed the Transmission ECU/TCM. The problem comes back.

Also can anyone tell me what parts are serviceable in the transmission? Filters, sensors etc?
Can the tranny be serviced without pulling it out?

Is there any other possibilities, cabling, sensors externally?

is there a post that i may have missed that someone knows of?

    Thanks

    Ahaz

the fault code is related to engine torque signal/performance, and usually is accompanied by a fault code on the crankshaft sensor and to be exact P0335 cranckshaft position sensor open circuit so i would scan the car and make sure you check the engine for fault codes as the crankshaft sensor is usually the culprit... now i have sorted this on a neighbours car by just replacing his crankshaft sensor but his was an astra 1.8 and a manual...

but with yours being an auto i can easily see the problem coming from the gearbox ecu not getting the information from the crankshaft sensor... cable could be shot or the sensor itself has gone it can happen. oww and my neighbours astra is from 2002 and the sensor itself was in bits, had to flush the engine and remove the oil pan making sure we got all the broken parts out.

Default Thanks Will add that to the list

Thanks will add that to the list. But, there is no engine code associated on the scan tool.

Will check all the cabling also.

Have changed half the oil with this. Recommended as compatible by the autoparts store...

Castrol Automatic Transmission Fluid Transmax Multivehicle 4L 3371183 fits Hy... | eBay

But it does not seem to like it. Code remains.

I think i will use Toyotas ATF T-IV which is the spec.

I do have a further question for those who have changed the oil: The instructions tell me to check the level while the engine is idling. And measure the hot level.

What i notice is straight after i have driven the car, the levels are different over time. How long do i have to leave it before i measure the levels?

Also, whats wrong with measuring while cold?

when hot the oil expands a bit... it is the reason why I never fill it up to the max when cold... fill it until it hits halfway of the dipsticks level part... than take it for a spin when the engine is at operating temp check it again you'll notice it'll almost be at full on the dipstick level part. The difference is 0.5 litre, on the dipstick if you fill it up to the middle bit of the level check and you can always put some in a can and keep it in the back for top-up later down the line.

gearbox though fill it up to the max.

Default Is there any other sensor in the gear box, that faults when oil level is wrong.

Thanks for that. Yes there is a trick to it but got it. However the error message is still coming up. Without an engine fault code... The MAF sensor has been cleaned. The Crank sensor error message is not there. So i am thinking the cabling is faulting somehow. As said earlier i have changed the transmission ECU/TCM. Will have one more go at changing the oil but i think at this point it is something else. Will check for loose connections etc.but.....

    >>>Is there any sensor in the gear box that checks for oil level that could be replaced?

BTW The car is parked on an incline nose pointing up the incline. Could this contribute?

BBTW The oil is NOT milky at all. Is there any way where the oil can leak or drop...If so how do i check where the oil might be going?
