drivers seat

With my 2006 signum design being due for a MOT in just over a month's time i have been doing a lot of work on her.
I noticed this morning that the drivers seat where my left shoulder would be has collapsed towards the rear of the car, right hand side seems fine.
Im presuming this will be a MOT failure.
Is this a common problem? or is there a fix or do i need a new seat?
I am quite savvy fixing things so i can remove it and weld it if needed in situ if there is no replacement parts etc.
im going to remove the seat at the weekend but just want to see if there is anything i can do to it to save messing around.

Most probably you have a bended/twisted/broken seat frame. And probably reparable with your skills. You should strip away all(cushiom trim, squabs trim & cover, etc) in order to get a free frame ready for work on(welding or whatever it needs). On the other side maybe it's easier to fit a replacement seat. But that's your decision exclusively.
