Buying a 15 year old Signum? What to avoid?
With no car at the moment I’m looking at a cheap runaround that I can get bikes in and see a couple of Signums near me. Always liked these from years ago whe they first came out and I had one as a rental for a while.
Just how risky would it be paying £1500-£2000 for a 14-15 year old one with 70-80k?
I’m only looking for petrol as I don’t do the miles, but would want some pull. What’s going to go wrong that could be expensive? I can do a lot of maintenance myself, brakes and electrics so it’s only bigger stuff it has to go to a garage for.
have seen this this nearby which I might try an see this weekend

Been looking at Saab’s of a similar age and they have a lot of rust issues. What are these like now?
with the CD70 is it possible to connect a phone?
thanks for any advice!
BTW did any come with a sunroof as standard?

I've had two Signums (both 2.8 petrol) and I love them. Lots and lots of pull!
Last one I bought last year on 72k miles.
The only thing that really needed doing was ignition coils and spark plugs, and a broken spring.
Both of them have sunroofs.
CD70 in one; CDC40 in the other.
Retrofitted bluetooth for calls on both.
The CD70 has Aux In, so I can play my phone's audio through the speakers.

basically i noticed that facelift Signums usually have rust around the rear arches... something the preface lift models almost don't have, but other than that (which is clearly visible) they are as good and a strong as any other vectra/signum around...

I have has a 2006 vectra 2.2 direct for about the last 10 years, same engine and apart from the rear end looks very similar, since I have owned it fuel pump and regulator replaced which is a common fault on these engines and timing chain/sprockets and up rated tensioner fitted, and the usual brakes and suspension due to wear and tear.
Been very reliable for me although it depends on what sort of driver you are.

I spent a while looking for mine - wanted a 2.0T as I decided it was the best combo of reliability and power. Bought it with 78K on the clock, now has 145K.
I have the CD70 in mine and fitted a parrot BT kit which is brilliant.
