1.9 150 Main cat drilling

Im thinking about drilling out the guts on the main cat converter and was wondering if i just need a long drill bit or are the internals like the Pre cat and made of metal?

Also, will i need to remove the exhaust section and tip it up so all the bits come out?

nope it is a normal cat... all you need is a big drill bit and a long chisel and bash the lot out

I used a meter long SDS drill bit and a length of angle bar and a hammer.

Dont forget it will also need to be mapped out.

Its the main cat with no sensors and not the Pre cat which has the sensor on it

Oww and ofcourse you need to take it of the car and make sure you get all the bits out... if you don't they might clog up the pipe down the line or the rear exhaust box(es).. you used to be able to take the catalytic material and sell it to a scrappy but the ones around mine stopped buying the material as they have no way of checking if it hasn't been weighted down with non-catalytic material (read sand ect)

Its the main cat but it also has a sensor inside so be carefull. You can see it from the engine end when its romoved.

My main cat/DPF definitely has one as I damaged it and it gave me temperature sensor fault codes.

Signams have one as it has a DPF but a hatch doesnt
