You can’t program used keys to another car unfortunately

Do we know why not? Ive heard this but then cant work it out as your programming the transponder to the car not the car to the transponder. So if your key list hasn't had this one in the list or its been deleted when it sees it it will think its new.
Its a bit like getting a new key in full, adding it to your cars list but then making a mistake. Surly after deleting off the list you wouldn't have to buy a new key anyway you would just reprogram it.

I found the same answer as bigmac gave on the forum. A used key may be programmed to the car but it cannot be done with the simple process as re-syncing it as described multiple times around the forum. It requires Tech2.

However if the car was programmed to the car, as mine were, then it can be re-synced as opposed to programmed.

afaik even tech2 cannot code a used key, I bought a used key before and had someone try and recode and was told it can't be done.

That may well be the case. All my searching before i started the thread said a key from another car was a no-go, but i'm sketchy on the details as to why. As soon as i figured it was not going to happen i worked on fixing my current key before springing the £150 for a new one.

you can get virgin uncut keys with new internals including the circuitboard off Aliexpress at the cost of a measly 11 pounds send to your home... just make sure you check the frequency needed but it is fair to say if you have a facelift model the one i linked you to is the one you need.. than you need to program it to the car and your done... also a mobile key place can deliver you a brand new keyfob cut and will code it to your car for you at the cost of 45 to 80 pounds... I know this because my neighbour had his spare flip-key made by one of these guys, thing is he cloned his only key so no programming was needed, if he had to code it it would've been the higher price and this was 2 years ago... so there are some options but he did say you need a virgin immobilizer pill to start with.
