Hello All,
I would like to ask a question which I did not find an answer to looking through google pages searching for specific Signum / Vectra C issues and also searching for generic electric window issues. Everything tries to suggest I have bad regulators. I don't.
So, I took the door card off, and with a multimeter I measured the voltage at the connector which plugs into the window motor. There is 12V (11.86 &11.84 to be precise - engine off) when pressing the up or down switches on both front doors. So the switches are fine, electricity gets to the motor. The symptom is, that the window would go up and down then suddenly change its mind and won't go up or down any more but the motor clicks. Sounds like when I had a bad starter motor once on a car and it was just clicking but not turning the engine. Would this work on the same principle? Can I just go ahead and buy a replacement window motor? Or would there be other bits to check I did not think about?
Also, the whole window regulator assembly is inside the door, riveted to it. However there are 3 holes where I can see three phillips screw heads, which I suspect is holding the motor. Can I replace it without drilling the rivets out and removing the whole regulator assembly?
I will be moving to a left hand drive country and the car is coming with me (had her for over 7 years now, we are one), obviously all the ticket machines...etc are on the left there so need the window working 100% reliable
Many thanks in advance!
Andrew
