Thanks for the info. I currently have the fuchs titan sintofluid recommended for this gearbox (if the garage actually did it) by opie oils but it made no difference and is still notchy which is also another reason I thought it may not of been changed by the garage. Lots of people rate this oil but my experience if it did get changed is poor.

I will be going for redline mt85 75w85 gl4 and some liqui moly too when I change it.

Hopefully this will cure the notchy gear change.

Trouble is you don't know if they did it because they couldnt get to the filler plug, they could say they done it but never did. You will find out as when you drain the oil out it should look like new if it looks old then it was never done.It could be notchy by either the cables need adjusting or the gears are worn and need overhauling.

since you say you had the box rebuilt, you might want to add something like extralube zx1 to the gearbox oil, than check the gear linkages under the gearstick, they might have worn down... you could replace the worn bits or replace it with a less worn used part... up to you but with what these cars cost these days... i'd go used in good nick preferably bought from a specialist breakers.

Many thanks for the info, I have not heard of the extralube zx1 before.
Having looked at many forums and reviews I'm not sure if it is just another snake oil or not.

Would you use this on a notchy gearbox?

I would if I made sure the only thing left was the just refurbished gearbox... meaning I would check the gearlinkagea and the linkage under the gearknob first.. if that all looks fine than yes I would use it... and actually I've used it before on a gearbox and it's not snake oil it works but it's expensive

Thanks for the reply. Before I go adding this can I clarify the gear linkage items. I replaced the gear linkage cables for new genuine GM ones and performed the gear linkage adjustment too. I greased the selector turret on the gearbox with new grease but the cables just popped on to the ball joints I didn't do anything further and the looked ok unless i should of greased these too. Under the gear lever I didn't do anything apart from opening and closing the cable clamps that attach to the end of the cables. They looked ok, should i of checked or greaed these or anywhere else too?

Also, as the cables are new I didn't spray any wd40 or anything down them either.

    Thanks
