it means you can't use the car at all until after the self isolation period... and only to drive it to the MOT station... which you'll have to pre-book....

If you are a key worker, then I suggest that you might contact DVLA and tell them your problem. If you're not, then I suppose that a new MOT is the last on the list right now. I know we all want to work and carry on, but unless we follow the advice and stay at home, it is going to go even more s##t-shaped. I apologise now if that sounds patronising, I really don't mean to, but as a scientist (of sorts, still) the advice is still bang on. Hope all goes well for you.

Check the BBC. They have suspended MOT's for some vehicles already - suspect it may go the same for cars. Didn't Ireland recently allow 3 months grace as all their State run test centres had dodgy lifts ?

last time i checked this... the DVSA hasn't done anything yet regarding the MOT for light vehicles, cars etc... they have already suspended it for lorries/trucks and vans for 3 months.. the site i checked for it did put the question towards them but they didn't reply back to that yet... this was 6 days ago...

anyway until they decide to suspend MOT testing for 3 months for the category our cars fall in, if you use it you'll be breaking the law, as you'd be driving without a valid MOT and in doing so void your cars insurance.

So I just drove past my regular mot station (formula one) they are open and do MOT's so you should be able to sort your MOT without a problem.
