Well the technician should be able to help you more than anyone as they probably have done thousands! Also remember if you become a full member you will get trade prices from dealers

i now understand why you've gone for the extra pulley... well it means you need to compare the part numbers it is the reason why i told you to go to use the parts catalogue at www.7zap.com

Sorry i don't understand how i go about this website. Maybe you could shed some light on what the alternative part numbers are?

I will send you the ebay item numbers of the parts i fitted to the car.

I fitted this gates belt 172786723804

I fitted this gates tensioner 173328663657

And fitted these two gates pulleys 312294113143 and 292801544757

I believe this left me with the setup of an 06 plate or below as i took this as my guide as a friend has an 06 1.9cdti with this exact setup. Turned out he had a totally different alternator to mine after checking afterwards which led me to believe my 57 plate has a different setup to his (either belt or tensioner or possibly both) any help would be appreciated.

If you'd click on the last link you'll see the page that specifies all the parts used on the aux belt side of the z19dth including all the part numbers, rollers, tensioner bolts etc etc etc...

Like I said either screenshot the page or print or it off than go to the dealer and point to the parts you got.
Than say you changed it to the 6 rollers version so you need the parts that are for that... will probably just be the tensioner you need but I'm not sure as I don't have a cdti.

    Is it clear now?

I only ever thought there was 3 rollers, 2 idle and 1 tensioner as i changed all these on mine. Then of course the crank pulley, ac compressor and alternator.

So got no idea what’s going on here, pictures would help I didn’t see this before as it’s posted outside the engine troubleshooting section.

There is only 3 rollers.....1 tensioner and 2 idler pulleys.

I have changed all 3 of these and also the belt and i am having issues. Can you remember which parts you uses on yours?

I have gone down the gates route and its not correct.

Apparently our 57 plates are setup different to older models with a pulley missing (bottom). I am now confused on which belt would be fitted to make this setup right. If i removed the pulley (bottom) it would be more slack.
