The Darklord does some sums.
Yes loyal ones, the Darklord has been labouring over a notepad with a well worn pencil. This was after he fell over another empty oil container.
Thus a very complicated mathatical formula has yielded the grim truth:
...the weedy nag under the bonnet is averaging approx 700 miles per litre.
Sigh.
Ever was it thus...

Dude... seriously it is the way it is... even if you'd overhaul.the engine it'll still use oil.... get used to it or get another petrol car that uses less oil.
But nowadays 0.5 litre at every 3 to 4000 miles is the norm for a petrol engine.... yes even the hailed Vag group 2.0 tfsi and fsi engines use that amount and that is when they are low mileage once they are kinda hitting 100k miles they use 0.5 litre at 2.5k and that is still within the tolerances..
Want an engine with virtually no engine oil use? BMW's 118/225/330/335 all use almost no oil on between service points... older vag group engines like the 1.8t don't use a drop either and the list goes on...

My old Mk1 1.3 Astra didn't use a drop between 6,000 mile services.
Nor did both my 2.0 litre Cavalier Mk3's, or two of my 2.2 Vectra's (I had three in total).
One of my 2.2 Vectra's used a litre every 2,000 miles or so however.
And my first car, an Allegro 1.1 used a gallon of oil in a fortnight!!! Mileage wise, approx. one gallon of oil every 500 miles!!!!!! Yes 500 miles. No leaks, never even smoked. God knows where it went.

I'm currently driving approx 700 miles per week, which means 1litre weekly!
Visits to the supermarket for parents shopping now follow a familiar routine:
Mother "I'm just going to have a look in the clothing section to see if they have any new tops."
DL "Fine, I'm just going to the household section to see if they have any oil on offer..."
Mother "Oil? What do you want that for, dear? Too much fried food isn't good for you."
DL "I wasn't thinking of frying anything..."
Mother "And you know I only use cold pressed..."
DL "Oh, I think the 10w40 can be used cold too..."
Mother "I don't know why you have so much of that stuff in the boot. The extra weight must use more fuel."
DL "It is fuel, mother."
Mother "Is it dear? Like a motorbike you mean?"
DL "Yes mother, just like a motorcycle. That's why I open the bonnet so much - I'm operating the kick start...now go and find a new top while I fill the boot with containers..."

Wouldn't buying a longer dip stick work out to be cheaper?

Ditto with my old 998 Mini, right down to not dropping any or burning it! Used to joke that it used more oil than petrol! Always bought the Halfords "Glug" 20/50 which was filtered 1st service oil from Ford IIRC - back when cars had a running in oil drop at 500 miles. Was £3.49 a gallon.

Are you sure you don't have the limited edition 2-stroke Vectra?

I'm touched by everyone's sympathy!
Surely mine can't be the only one using oil like this? I mean, at a litre per week that equates to an oil change every month...
