Default 1.9 Cdti fuel filter issue HELP!!!!

The drain plug on the fuel filter constantly leaks and it’s located right above the exhaust so I’m getting fumes in the cab which can’t be good!
I’ve tried plugging it but it still leaks as it must be under pressure.
Has anyone else had this issue and know if there’s an o ring or gasket in there and if so what size?

How did you plug it without removing the drain? You would have seen the method of sealing then no?

From underneath I was doing a service and then noticed the leak I put some silicone pipe over the nipple to divert it from dripping onto the exhaust but that only lasted a few months until the diesel degraded it, I then attempted to seal it with silicone and heat shrink but no joy.

has anyone stripped one of these down to its components?

Why not remove the complete fuel filter housing from the car as you would if you were changing the filter ,remove the screwed ring and cap ,remove the filter pour the diesel in the filter body into a clean container then remove the drain plug and replace the drain plug seal with a new one.

Basically that was my question the size of the seal as I won’t have transport when the filters removed and in pieces.

Any how I’ve ordered a second hand complete unit as suggested for £30 and a new filter instead of messing around.
