Is there 12v switched power FROM CD70 radio?
I need switched 12v power that comes on with my CD70 headunit, this is to power a wired FM modulator and bluetooth receiver I am installing. Does anyone know if there is a wire that I can splice into that will do this?
I could use 12v ignition switched but then I wouldn't be able to use it if I just wanted the radio on when parked up.
Cheers

Had a thought... The satnav screen always comes on with the headunit, I guess it gets permanent live and has a relay from the headunit? Would the relay signal be enough to power the modulator and BT receiver?

satnav screen comes on because the canbus tells it to. you might be able to get a canbus interface to provide 12v when the CD70 is on, but I don't recall the CD70 having a remote 12v line.
the fakra for the radio antenna has a phantom 12v, that may be an option too, if you can find something to 'break out' the 12v feed.

Thanks for the info, doesn't sound like there's an easy way to do it.
Anyway it turns out after some testing the FM modulator interferes with normal radio stations when it's powered, even if it's not transmitting, so I will be running it on permanent live from the glovebox light with a switch I'll mount next to the headunit.

You could use the cigarette lighter it only is live when the contact is switched on... so you take your 12v from there... put a switch on it if you want because of the interference... but as long as the car is switched to the first position (contact on) essentially you'll have power to it remove the key and it is turned off. Always handy if you forget to turn the switch to off position... at least it won't drain the battery.

That's the thing I want to be able to use the kit along with the radio without the key in the ignition. The switch I've ordered is illuminated blue (for bluetooth obviously) when it's on so I shouldn't accidentally leave it on

I'm going to keep using the glovebox light, I checked it with a multi meter and it actually turns off after a while once the car is locked so it's perfect.
