Thanks for the response, but thought if it was crank or cam sensor it wouldn't start hence why i was thinking possibly the TPS (throttle position sensor) or the peddle itself? As it won't run without accelerator to the floor,as said before!

Doesn’t have a throttle position sensor as it has no throttle, sorry to say can’t think of any other way but it needs plugging in and live data looking at to see what’s going on otherwise it’s guess work.

There is a potentio sensor on the pedal otherwise how the hell will the ecu know how far the pedal is pressed? That said it could be that but 9 out of 10 times damaged crankshaft sensor doesn't mean the car won't start at all, if it is intermittent enough it could still make the car start it just won't be able to keep it running as it isn't giving accurate readings... this usually is the case with damage to the sensor but it could also be actual damage to the sensor itself.
But I do agree with @Dog_Book: a quick scan should tell you exactly what is going on.

Pedal position sensor and throttle position sensors are 2 separate items, my petrol has both a cdti has only 1 as the ecu controls the throttle via fueling.

If you want to be specific... the ECU controls the injection by matching the voltage of the pedal position sensor to a predetermined injection quantity..
In no way does it control the pedal position sensor...
The only time the PPS is disregarded is when you turn on the CC.
Yes a petrol has both a TPS and PPS....

A pedal position sensor isn't a throttle id have called that a accelerator pedal, a throttle is what controls air flow into an engine well a petrol anyway. Or slide on a flat slide carb, but anyway

You might want to point out also that the PPS is part of the accelerator pedal. At least it is on cars that are drive by wire. A diesel engine hasn't got a throttle... it has an anti shudder valve, people mistake that for a throttle valve. But the only reason for it to be on a diesel engine is to shut the engine off, by cutting off the air supply to the engine... it is the reason it is always wide open unless you turn the car off.
On a petrol engine the throttle position sensor usually is part of the throttle body And yes they literally control the airflow into the petrol engine. But on your petrol car you have an accelerator pedal that is drive by wire.....guess what? It has a PPS that is part of said accelerator pedal.
