    Default Alarm / safeguard issue

Ok so I have just experienced the back window break alarm problem and have removed fuse 23 to stop ****ing my neighbours off

Hereís my question, does this fuse only cover the 2 side windows? So Iím thinking if bypassing the wires in the windows and replacing the fuse. Or does it cover the tailgate too? If so, does it use the rear heated screen element, and if so how do I bypass it?

Itís a 2008 Cdti Sri estate

I thought the alarm was a volume/ ultrasonic as standard, if so then it can be disabled from the button on the roof console, or have it programmed out

On estate cars, the alarm also has break wires in the rear side windows, should anyone try and break in by smashing the glass. This system often goes faulty, and the easiest solution is to locate the wires in the boot area and link them together to fool the alarm into thinking the circuit is still intact.

I don't think the heated rear screen is part of the alarm, but I could be wrong.

Pressing the alarm button only disables the ultrasonic detectors. It makes no difference to the break wires.

There is some info in the how2 section, but you either need to be a paid member, or been here a while to access it.

    Thanks Big Dave

Taking the fuse out has stopped it going off.

Looks like Iíll be stripping the interior trim of at the weekend to bypass the window sensors

Just hoping the tailgate isnít also on the same circuit as itís a nightmare to remove / replace the panel
