is the pcv valve just a ventilation hole from rocker cover? as previously earlier in the year i cleaned the rocker cover and new gasket, and changed throttle body. never seen any valve. not sure what im even looking for.

if you watch that video the guy pulls of a part that looks like a disk connected to a pipe... that is the complete housing where the pcv valve is located... the inside of it can perish over the years causing problems.... and that is the part you need to replace... and yes it is connected to the cover....you see him replacing it at somewhere around 2:28 in the video

The xe is a different engine and just have the two pipes that come out of cover and into throttle body the smaller one of which has a 1mm bore in throttle body which gets clogged up and causes idle issues.

PS this thread is over two years old and the OP has an insignia now with the xer engine in.

Well not my mistake as I thought he was on about the xer engine not the xe. Ig differences as the xe isn't a vvt. So completely different head and setup of the valve cover.

Totally different engines xe first came out in Astra g and Vec b water pump driven off cambelt xer introduced in 2006 for tighter emissions which is why they run hotter and water pump runs off aux belt nothing interchangable.
