Default Will replacing the Accelerator fix this fault?

I've noticed my car "holding onto revs" (this is the best way I can think to describe it). If I blip the throttle the revs rise quickly, but fall much slower. When driving it has the effect of lower than expected engine breaking.

I have plugged in an OBD2 reader and looked at the throttle position sensor, and found that the throttle position goes from 18% open to 70% open within the first 1/3rd of pedal travel. The pedal doesn't make any difference after it is pressed more that 1/3rd.

It seems likely that the pedal position system is broken in some way. I removed the pedal opened it up and see nothing obvious so I think I'll replace it.
    Any thoughts?

Got one on it's way from ebay, only a tenner.
    Hopefully it sorts it.

New pedal fitted today and issue is unresolved. Any other options I could look into?
Has anyone else got this issue, I'm starting to wonder if it is normal behaviour.

Had something sort of similar on my Insignia, not sure if the Vecs work the same.

Eventually turned out to be the settings of the aircon/recirc that were causing it. Presumably with certain settings, there is higher load on the engine, therefore the control system/black boxes were somehow "damping" the revs coming back down to avoid a stall situation.

Might be worth having a tinker to see if it makes any difference.

That seems a stretch as the car only has pretty basic climate control, but I'll check it out. Thanks
