Car cutting out while driving
Hi Guys,
I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
I have a vectra c 3.0 V6 CDTI SRI, it has started playing up, it has started cutting out when driving, eg
Drove the car from cold around 20 miles and it cut out doing 70mph, all the lights came on the dash, managed to pull the car over, switched it off, and fired it up again, started no problems, sat and idled for around 10secs and it cut out again, done this every time i started the car, what i did notice is that before it cut out, the revs would rise from around 7/800 rpm to around 11rpm and sit for around a second or two and then cut out.
Could anyone point me in the right direction as to what is the issue?
Steve

Sorry for being a complete novice, but can the codes be read when there are no signs of faults (no lights on the dash)

There doesn’t have to be a light on car for faults to be stored, does it do it when you go to give it a bit of stick? Or under load?

Not really, the last time was when i was doing 70 in 6th, with cruise control on, the other times either stationary or picking up speed, i'll try and get the codes read.
Cheers

Might be someone local to you on here that has tech2 or code reader, ask in the relevant region section

Change the fuel filter first and get the battery checked.
Both simple cheap things to do first before going down the scv replacement route.

Check the main ecu relay. I don't have my vectra anymore but I seem to recall it's the red one in the fuse box that is to the right of the car battery.
