Lower charge hose popping off (Saab 9-5 1.9 Tid)
Hi team...
So in the last year the 3 inch in diameter hose that connects to the radiator, bottom right hand side as you look at it from the front pops off. Part number 12762043
The hose is one of those silicone ones and connects to the hard plastic male bit of the lower rad. I have two clamps holding it on...but it seems to blow off every 6 months or so. There is some oil residue in there...maybe about 1/2 teaspoon....
Question is: I have never changed the hose..140k covered so far...is it time for a new one? Or is it something else?
Thank you in advance,
M

If you’ve got oil in the water could be another fault maybe head gasket?

Where was the mention of water?..you using your psychic powers again Steve?..
Personally id change it,for how much its gonna cost. Probs the clamps as well. After a thorough clean of the surfaces.

Are you on about the radiator or the intercooler? If it is the intercooler, get a new v- band clamp and replace the 2 with that one that should do the trick.

well have just cleaned all connections.......hardly any oil...just a slight misting...so think it must be the weedy connections.......will get some proper v clamps and maybe put some mastic sealer on before clamping up...

OEM hoses wouldn't be silicon, they would be rubber. If it is genuinely silicon then it's an aftermarket item. Silicon hoses are notorious for popping off, you could try filing the metal collar it connects to, in order to roughen the surface and increase friction.

just had a look..and it's rubber....so OEM...maybe a smear of mastic sealer will help as well....Its the plastic male part on the intercooler that is smooth.....not metal on mine....which probably doesn't help matters...maybe I should roughen it up a bit...

V clamps aren’t used on the intercoolers, might be some pics of some of the ones I replaced on mine in the diary at work so cant post them

Hi team...well after another long 2 hr journey it did the same again.......
I made reparations, put pipe back on with Jubilee clip, only one this time and not the three I had on before and managed to drive home.. Kept it at 2100 rpm max and all was well.
When I got home I then took it up and down my lane and gave it a good spanking to 4500 rpm and the pipe did not come off!
So...a bit of a loss really.
Options:
1 - new pipe...OEM one is 15 years old
2 -New clamps
3 - Would there be a pressure issue? At 2000 rpm it was fine.
4 - Anything else?!
Thank you in advance....
